SELLING

Information

Describe an item accurately and honestly including details on condition.

Provide good and clear photographs. Don't forget you can have up to four images per item, so make use of it.

Let potential buyers know if you are an established seller with a website or shop.

Do you have a rating from another website?

Details of fairs or markets you sell at regularly.

Talk to your buyer on the telephone or, if possible, meet face to face.

Private Seller

Be as helpful as possible. If you can't answer a potential buyer's question – say so.

Ask for Help

Delivery and Packing

Think about how you are going to send the item to the buyer and who will be responsible for costs including packing, postage and insurance.

Consider alternatives to posting items such as a courier and get a quote on line for delivery.

Ensure items are wrapped and packed carefully using proper materials. Delicate items should be bubble wrapped and double boxed to ensure they arrive safely.

BUYING

Prepare a list of questions to ask the seller about an item. Email or speak to them on the telephone or, if possible, see if you can meet them face to face.

If they are trade, do they attend fairs or markets regularly?

Decide on method of payment.

Agree method of delivery and costs.

Ask if there is a refund policy and get details.
