Drummond Read Associates Limited

Drummond Read Associates are specialists in the valuation of antiques, fine art and jewellery.

Founded by Colin Read and Caroline Drummond Wilson in 1992, the company was initially formed to provide valuations following theft, loss or damage and for litigation purposes using a team of professionally and academically qualified associates.

In 2002 Drummond Read set up Drummond Read Recruitment & Training, the first recruitment agency for fine arts, antiques and related professions.

Colin Read began his career at Sotheby's before going on to run auction rooms in South West England. Between 1987 and 2002 he was a senior lecturer in valuation and professional practice at Southampton University College in the South of England on an internationally renowned training course for antiques and fine art valuers and auctioneers.

Colin is a Chartered Arts and Antiques Surveyor and an Associate of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation.

After working for 5 years as a PA at Director level for Town & City Properties, Caroline had a career change and studied at Southampton University College to qualify as a Chartered Art and Antiques Surveyor. Caroline won the prize for top student during each of her three years of study and in her finals won the Antiques Trade Gazette prize for top marks in the UK.

With her extensive and comprehensive administration skills she joined Colin Read in 1992 to set up Drummond Read Associates. Caroline went on to specialize in jewellery valuation and in 1994 won the Leslie Fitzgerald Award for top marks in the UK for the National Association of Goldsmiths Retail Jewellers Diploma examinations.

Colin and Caroline have identified the need for an international website where subscribers can seek the help and opinions of specialists, enter specialist led discussion forums, listen to audio master classes and buy and sell in a specialist community thus creating a fresh environment for collectors, enthusiasts and hobbyists.

The result is an exciting website which mixes traditional with contemporary and one that offers subscribers the freedom and choice to create their own style or develop their thirst for knowledge in niche areas.
